2023 is shaping up to be the year of low-effort makeup - and I for one am here for it. More than ever, we are seeing an influx of natural makeup looks that priotitise good skincare and simple looks. Don’t get it wrong, though. Simplifying your makeup routine does NOT mean it has to be boring.

Introducing ‘latte makeup’, the hottest new makeup trend to grace our TikTok FYPs. Coined by beauty influencer Rachel Rigler, latte makeup utilises shades of brown and beige to achieve that sultry summer vibe we all know and love. This time, though, it’s all about simplicity and ease. With no hard edges, cut creases or precise eyeliner wings, latte makeup is as addictive as your morning caffeine fix.

This cozy and natural look features glowing skin, shades of brown and beige on the lids, cheeks, and lips, paired with subtle contouring and shimmery highlights. Here’s how to get the look:

Begin with a well-hydrated base. It’s important to prep your skin with a good moisturiser, SPF and primer. The idea is for your glowy skin to shine through the makeup.

Our pick: Cinch Spray and Glow

Lightly apply foundation.  This look calls for super-light coverage foundation. Apply with a damp beauty blender, blending outwards from the center of your face. Bonus tip: avoid applying makeup on your nose for a more skin-like look.

Our pick: Eye of Horus Skin Tint Serum

Bronze to the heavens. Liberally apply bronzer to your temples, eyes, and anywhere else your heart desires. It doesn’t have to be exact - just ensure there are no harsh lines.

Our pick: Eye of Horus Complexion Duo Luminate

Emphasise your eyes. To add some depth to the outer corners of your eyes, add a hint of brown cream eyeshadow and blend outward. Once again, it doesn’t have to be precise, just remember to blend, blend, blend!

Our pick: Ere Perez Carrot Colour Pot

Define your lashes. Use a black or brown mascara to define your lashes. For a more sultry look, avoid applying mascara to your bottom lashes.

Our pick: Ere Perez Almond Mascara

Glaze up your lips. Last but not least, apply a nude lip liner and your favourite lip gloss.

Our pick: Inika Organic Lip Crayon
